An unexpectedly hard shot by Hoàng Phuoc in the 4th minute of play forced Lao Cai 24's goalkeeper Lê Cuc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 5 minutes, Phạm Lan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lao Cai 24 and the Cao Bang Red Star players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nguyễn Lam took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Đoàn Mai. Đoàn Mai dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Tomás Sá could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Lê Cuc made a huge save. Dương Nam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Lê Hoang came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Lao Cai 24 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lê Hoang couldn't finish the play. Nguyễn Lam fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Đoàn Mai having to interfere. Lê Cuc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomás Sá, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Đỗ Chung kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. From a short distance, Cao Bang Red Star's Tomás Sá, in the 42nd minute, tried to place the ball behind Lê Cuc, but the ball hit the right post on the wrong side and went out. Lê Cuc didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Timoteo Dimas went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 46 minutes into the match, Tomás Sá had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lê Cuc. Lao Cai 24's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tomás Sá was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
