A collision led to Rochdale getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bill Winship hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the game, Alfred Beaver recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joel Chien-Kwan. Alfred Beaver showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Alfred Beaver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel Chien-Kwan having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Adam Yi-Sheng mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brentford and the Rochdale players grew even worse after the yellow card. Adam Yi-Sheng hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Alfred Beaver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 3-0 became the score in the 44th minute when Pierre Paine elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Mattias Best received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Joel Chien-Kwan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wei Xuan Kool to make the kick off. Joel Chien-Kwan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfred Beaver, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 61st minute, Wei Xuan Kool ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sol Slade was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 67th minute, Mattias Best got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, Brentford's goal looked a bit too open when Alfred Beaver came free, but Joel Chien-Kwan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brentford's Adam Yi-Sheng got his second yellow card of the match in the 73rd minute. The referee ordered Adam Yi-Sheng off the ground. After 88 minutes of play Brentford's Alan Tioe was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After recieving a nice pass, Rochdale's Robin Rooney tried to score from far away in the 89th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Mattias Best's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Chien-Kwan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Alfred Beaver's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joel Chien-Kwan was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. Rochdale's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
