In the 38th minute Sajeev Ning shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Ramachandran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gara Paine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alif Sum, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The supporters of Wivenhoe booed when Holton-le-Clay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dale Swee didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 played minutes Wivenhoe got a freekick which was hit by Daniz Chong. When Afriz Singh came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Holton-le-Clay fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Afriz Singh couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Sajeev Ning managed to get in a good position for a shot. Holton-le-Clay's supporters rose to their feet, but Sajeev Ning was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dale Ramachandran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sajeev Ning sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gara Paine didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Wivenhoe's Alif Sum shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-0 in the ordered_time% minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shahron Rajah during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. During the 89th minute of the match Shahron Rajah completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Shahron Rajah a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After having played for 92 minutes, Merlin Chuan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wivenhoe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Merlin Chuan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wong Leng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Wivenhoe fully deserved thier win.
