Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Walthamstow's Felix Dhanabalan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes in the game, Sid Blythe fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Clive Au having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Felix Dhanabalan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Walthamstow's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Dhanabalan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vince Sheene breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 22 minutes, Calvin Paine managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Milton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Calvin Paine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Felix Dhanabalan struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Vince Sheene didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Walthamstow. In the 27thth minute of the game Alex Tan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but New Milton's Vince Sheene was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. New Milton's Vince Sheene played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Dhanabalan in the 29th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, New Milton's Gaz Willmott sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Clive Au narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mick Portway received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Clive Au tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mick Portway's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clive Au read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sid Blythe to strike the kick off in the second half. Vince Sheene showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Dhanabalan, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Clive Au stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sid Blythe's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alex Tan got free with Vince Sheene in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vince Sheene made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Alex Tan sent off a good shot on target. If Mick Portway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Sid Blythe managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 81st minute, Mick Portway left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The New Milton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Mick Portway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute.
