In the 16th minute, Khairul Lee got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Derby's Alam Phua got control of the ball when Alam Ramachandran tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gage Siang might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alam Phua. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gage Siang ran back to his position shaking his head. 20 minutes into the match, Alam Ramachandran notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Derby's Alam Phua. Alam Phua was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sean Liang in the 23rd minute of play forced Padstow United's goalkeeper Gabriel Seah to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Khairul Lee managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Derby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Khairul Lee was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alam Ramachandran's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Alam Phua skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Alam Ramachandran who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 29thth minute tested the skills of Alam Phua when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 31 minutes, Dale Nagasaki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Derby and the Padstow United players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 31 played minutes Derby got a freekick which was hit by Dale Nagasaki. Khairul Lee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Seah having to interfere. A collision led to Derby getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Rifqi Hongyi hit a great ball. Alam Ramachandran struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Alam Phua didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padstow United. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Khairul Lee made a kick off. Gabriel Seah made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rifqi Hongyi in the 51st minute. Ali Cho kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. When Khairul Lee, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 54 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Gabriel Seah was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Rifqi Hongyi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gabriel Seah having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Derby's Wong Tian got a free kick in the 61st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alam Ramachandran in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alam Phua prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alam Phua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alam Ramachandran, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 72 played minutes Derby got a freekick which was hit by Khairul Lee. After 72 played minutes, Padstow United's Daniz Tioe shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Alam Phua came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Padstow United reached it. In the 73rd minute, Sean Liang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79thth minute of the game Alam Ramachandran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derby's Alam Phua was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alam Phua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ang Paine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Derby's Mohammad Shiong got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Gage Siang charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gage Siang the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Rifqi Hongyi struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Gabriel Seah didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Derby. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Padstow United had won after a very even match.
