Rifki Yip kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Derby's Rifqi Hongyi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lee Hoe narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Derby booed when Grove was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lee Hoe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rifqi Hongyi in the 46th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Shahiran Cho was the one to do the kick off. In the 56thth minute of the game Merlin Seng who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derby's Alam Phua was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Merlin Seng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merlin Seng recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alam Phua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shahiran Cho, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 94th minute, Grove's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rifqi Hongyi fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Lee Hoe made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Sean Liang sent off a good shot on target. 95 minutes into the match, Grove's goalkeeper Lee Hoe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rifqi Hongyi. The Derby supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Derby would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
