Cirencester AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Darryl Ning was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 15 minutes into the game, Shah Yi-Sheng lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Johnny Etherington. A collision led to Moretonhampstead United getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Brandon Bartrup hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shah Yi-Sheng in the 23rd minute of play forced Moretonhampstead United's goalkeeper Johnny Etherington to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Cirencester AFC's Darryl Ning sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Johnny Etherington narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 34th minute Shah Yi-Sheng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnny Etherington saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Darryl Ning might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johnny Etherington. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Darryl Ning ran back to his position shaking his head. Shah Yi-Sheng received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Johnny Etherington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 42nd minute, Stefan Kaye hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute of the match Cirencester AFC got a corner. Moretonhampstead United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Chien-Kwan ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Joel Chien-Kwan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Johnny Etherington quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Johnny Etherington made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Darryl Ning sent off a good shot on target. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Shah Yi-Sheng was the one to do the kick off. The long shot by Dylon Dalton in the 54th minute really tested Nicholas Kool's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The supporters of Cirencester AFC booed when Moretonhampstead United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joel Craven didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 played minutes, Cirencester AFC's Joel Chien-Kwan shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Johnny Etherington came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cirencester AFC reached it. Moretonhampstead United's Julian Beadel got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Cirencester AFC's Nicholas Tian got a free kick in the 70th minute. Shah Yi-Sheng struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Johnny Etherington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cirencester AFC. After 78 played minutes Moretonhampstead United got a freekick which was hit by Craig Shephard. Shah Yi-Sheng fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Etherington having to interfere. Darryl Ning received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Johnny Etherington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moretonhampstead United's Johnny Etherington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shah Yi-Sheng in the 88th minute of play.
