Alford Phillips charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alford Phillips the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 2 played minutes Southern Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Alford Phillips. Nathan Tearle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corey Anders in the 4th minute of play. Rick Paynter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jared Mcjenkins, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Corey Anders managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wallaroo's supporters rose to their feet, but Corey Anders was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nathan Tearle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Eavan Ziliotto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rick Paynter was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Eavan Ziliotto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Rick Paynter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nathan Tearle made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Alvin Laing sent off a good shot on target. 34 minutes into the match, Wallaroo's goal looked a bit too open when Eavan Ziliotto came free, but Rick Paynter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nathan Tearle was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Corey Anders showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 38 minute of play. In the 41st minute of the match, Corey Anders tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Nathan Tearle saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Alvin Laing blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nathan Tearle having to make a save. Corey Anders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Tearle having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Jared Mcjenkins made the kick off in the second half. Alvin Laing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Tearle having to interfere. After 56 played minutes Southern Sydney FC got a freekick which was hit by Damon Tisdell. After 59 played minutes Wallaroo got a freekick which was hit by Steve Orourke. Eavan Ziliotto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Southern Sydney FC's Nathan Tearle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alvin Laing in the 67th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvin Laing in the 68th minute of play forced Southern Sydney FC's goalkeeper Nathan Tearle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Southern Sydney FC's Alford Phillips got a free kick in the 68th minute. Rick Paynter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jared Mcjenkins, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 77th minute of the match Art Perrett sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nathan Tearle skillfully saved the ball. After 85 minutes of play, Southern Sydney FC's Eavan Ziliotto made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rick Paynter was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wallaroo's Rick Paynter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Wallaroo from getting a goal against them. After having played for 92 minutes, Corey Anders managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wallaroo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Corey Anders was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Steve Orourke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
