Ace Pickhills sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frances's Ace Pickhills got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Baxter Duncan charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Baxter Duncan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th match minute, Cheviot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baxter Duncan to maneuver through the defense. Baxter Duncan was shown his second yellow card after 11 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Baxter Duncan hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Best Macumber kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Earnest Wirth. That made the score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Earnest Oconnell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Earnest Wirth made a huge save. In the 23rd match minute, Frances was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ace Pickhills to maneuver through the defense. Earnest Wirth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Best Macumber in the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute of the match Frances got a corner. Cheviot's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Larkin Kaine ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Frances's Larkin Kaine to fire away a dangerous shot which Earnest Wirth despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Earnest Oconnell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 34 minutes into the match, Best Macumber dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Earnest Wirth, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Earnest Oconnell got free with Earnest Wirth in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42ndth minute of the game Best Macumber who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cheviot's Earnest Wirth was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Barth Bohn fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cheviot's protests and gave Barth Bohn a yellow card for diving instead. Barth Bohn hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Frances's Best Macumber got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Earnest Wirth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Best Macumber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 49th match minute, Frances was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Best Macumber to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Best Macumber managed to get in a good position for a shot. Frances's supporters rose to their feet, but Best Macumber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Earnest Wirth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Best Macumber in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Earnest Wirth saved Cheviot from getting behind. Frances's Earnest Oconnell got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Cheviot's goal looked a bit too open when Best Macumber came free, but Earnest Wirth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Best Macumber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Earnest Oconnell struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Earnest Wirth didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Frances. After having played for 93 minutes, Best Macumber managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Frances's supporters crossed their fingers, but Best Macumber was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Earnest Oconnell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 101st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Frances had played much better football throughout.
