Preston Reisz didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Melbourne FC's Jason Wood shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Adolph Castray's late challenge caught a Melbourne FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Pustak in the 16th minute of play forced Melbourne FC's goalkeeper Pedro Augusto Meireles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jason Wood in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Preston Reisz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 23 minutes, Jason Wood managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Wood was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 31 minutes, Jason Wood managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Wood was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 35 minutes into the match, Rafael Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Preston Reisz. Comma's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafael Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 39thth minute of the game Jason Wood who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Comma's Preston Reisz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. David Perrett hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jason Wood in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Preston Reisz saved Comma from getting behind. A collision led to Comma getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Darrell Krause hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Melbourne FC's zone, Brennan Rummens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Augusto Meireles came out of the goal and Brennan Rummens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jason Wood was the one to do the kick off. When Alberto Christian came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Melbourne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Christian couldn't finish the play. Brennan Rummens scored 1-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pedro Augusto Meireles, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jason Woods short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Preston Reisz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Jason Wood came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Melbourne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jason Wood couldn't finish the play. If Alberto Christian had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Comma:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Melbourne FC:s goal. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Melbourne FC. David Perrett stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Preston Reisz. 1-3. Preston Reisz was a little too slow when Jason Wood got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 1-4. Preston Reisz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nash Wayland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute, Melbourne FC's Jason Wood dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-5. Preston Reisz stood somewhat misplaced when Jason Wood came free in front of goal and shot 1-6 to the left of him in the 85 minute. If Jason Wood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 89th minute, Melbourne FC's Jason Wood dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-7. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of Melbourne FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Comma:s goal. Melbourne FC:s Pedro Augusto Meireles showed great skill when he stopped Adolph Castray:s penalty. Bock Tencer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 98th minute, Phil Sennett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Melbourne FC's Pedro Augusto Meireles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Pustak in the 100th minute of play. Melbourne FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
