Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Angelo Adair made the kick off and thus started the match. Burtt Norden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cornelius Colman received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Henry Hinwood came out and tried to block the shot, but Cornelius Colman slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 7th minute. Benjy Brophy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joseph Mcmanamny hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute Cornelius Colman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henry Hinwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Guilford booed when Kooringal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stan Shipman didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Guilford's Cornelius Colman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henry Hinwood narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Charles Gummow sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Guilford's zone, Angelo Adair stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ren Didlock came out of the goal and Angelo Adair tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Burtt Norden might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Henry Hinwood. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Burtt Norden ran back to his position shaking his head. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cornelius Colman was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Kooringal's goalkeeper Henry Hinwood, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hans Hollis struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Henry Hinwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guilford. After 60 minutes, Burtt Norden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guilford and the Kooringal players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th minute, Burtt Norden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 62nd match minute, Guilford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joseph Mcmanamny to maneuver through the defense. Burtt Norden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Hinwood having to interfere. Henry Hinwood showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornelius Colman in the 72nd minute of the match. If Burtt Norden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st minute, Cornelius Colman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Charles Gummow during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Guilford's Ren Didlock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Adair in the 90th minute of play. If Benjy Brophy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guilford walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
