The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 2 minutes into the game, Fletcher Blackham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Motueka FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Moorna the free kick. Gregg Groves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barnett Plank in the 4th minute of the match. Tom Jury hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute, Kyle Mogork left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Moorna fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Reese Mcmillan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gregg Groves having to interfere. Moorna's Gregg Groves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barnett Plank in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd match minute, Motueka FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barth Mcinnis to maneuver through the defense. Barth Mcinnis charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Barth Mcinnis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 28 played minutes Motueka FC got a freekick which was hit by Barth Mcinnis. In the 31st minute Kyle Mogork shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cassidy Turnor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Motueka FC booed when Moorna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyle Mogork didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gregg Groves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barnett Plank, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Handley Kennewell hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Gregg Groves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barnett Plank in the 44th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Handley Kennewell during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cassidy Turnor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kyle Mogork in the 58th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reese Mcmillan in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gregg Groves saved Moorna from getting behind. Barnett Plank received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Gregg Groves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gregg Groves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barth Mcinnis, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 72nd minute Kyle Mogork shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cassidy Turnor saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregg Groves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barth Mcinnis, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. When Nash Clarke came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Moorna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nash Clarke couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyle Mogork in the 82nd minute of play forced Motueka FC's goalkeeper Cassidy Turnor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Birrell Muncaster kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the game, Kyle Mogork lined in a short shot 0-2 behind a frustrated Cassidy Turnor. A collision led to Motueka FC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Brice Kean hit a great ball. Raymond Woodbridge's late challenge caught a Motueka FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
