Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Thomas Mcjenkins took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 3 played minutes Ashford got a freekick which was hit by Jackson Crawford. A hard shot by Tommy Ritter from long distance, 4 minutes into the match, got Larry Dalglish's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Philip Hollingworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clarke Weller having to interfere. Caine Kidman's late challenge caught a Sladevale's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caine Kidman helped the player get up and apologised. Caine Kidman hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thomas Mcjenkins in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clarke Weller saved Sladevale from getting behind. Ashford's Larry Dalglish proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Ashford from getting a goal against them. If Keith Ryan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adolph Walsh stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
