Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Howie Maciver started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 5 minutes into the game, Howie Maciver cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Handley Alcock was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 13th minute Howie Black shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Archie Millar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jarrod Christini hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Kyle Whitmore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Archie Millar having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Bruno Coldicutt fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Greendale's Handley Alcock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phil Dorrell in the 23rd minute of play. Kyle Whitmores short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Archie Millar to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a defensive mix-up in Merriton's zone, Bruno Coldicutt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Archie Millar came out of the goal and Bruno Coldicutt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Howie Maciver hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. When Kyle Whitmore fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Greendale's protests and gave Kyle Whitmore a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Merriton booed when Greendale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyle Whitmore didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 33 played minutes Merriton got a freekick which was hit by Kirk Mcenally. Daniel Leydin's shot from long distance in the 34th minute was not bad at all, but Merriton's Archie Millar knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. A collision led to Merriton getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Barnett Barugh hit a great ball. Phil Dorrell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Handley Alcock having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Kyle Whitmore kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Archie Millar. That made the score 1-2 in the 45 minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Howie Maciver in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Handley Alcock saved Greendale from getting behind. Jarrod Christini kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Archie Millar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruno Coldicutt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Handley Alcock made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phil Dorrell in the 61st minute. Carman Giles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 67 minutes into the match, Greendale's goalkeeper Handley Alcock had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Phil Dorrell. If Kyle Whitmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75th minute, Barnett Barugh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 76 minutes, Kyle Whitmore managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Greendale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kyle Whitmore was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 77th minute, Ernest Black hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Phil Dorrell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Merriton's supporters rose to their feet, but Phil Dorrell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Handley Alcock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Greendale's zone, Phil Dorrell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Handley Alcock came out of the goal and Phil Dorrell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brant Pegrum's late challenge caught a Merriton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Brant Pegrum helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Merriton a penalty, 84 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Otto Gwin, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Greendale's Handley Alcock. 1-3. Bruno Coldicutt's late challenge caught a Merriton's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bruno Coldicutt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 87th match minute, Greendale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Coldicutt to maneuver through the defense. After 91 played minutes Merriton got a freekick which was hit by Howie Maciver. Archie Millar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Coldicutt, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Merriton eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
