Irwin Hodson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 2nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Irwin Hodson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Bruno Arkinstall made a huge save. The supporters of Charlton booed when Winning 11 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bartholemew Ashwin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute, Ren Atterton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Charlton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After having played for 12 minutes, Edgar Ceney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charlton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgar Ceney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Charlton's Dani Fenwick got a free kick in the 16th minute. Ren Atterton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Mcinnes having to interfere. Edgar Ceney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dani Fenwick hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 30th minute Irwin Hodson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Arkinstall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ren Atterton scored 0-3 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Craig Mcinnes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lawrence Deal who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 36thth minute tested the skills of Bruno Arkinstall when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Lawrence Deal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Irwin Hodson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lawrence Deal in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Bruno Arkinstall, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The crowd rose to their feet as Winning 11's Irwin Hodson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bruno Arkinstall. That made the score 1-3 after 45 minutes of play. After the first half Charlton were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Irwin Hodson was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes in the game, Ren Atterton fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Craig Mcinnes having to interfere. Winning 11's Craig Mcinnes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Winning 11 from getting a goal against them. Irwin Hodson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Arkinstall having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Lawrence Deal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruno Arkinstall was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. If Edgar Ceney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ren Atterton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Mcinnes having to interfere. Irwin Hodson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Winning 11 booed when Charlton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brye Renshaw didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruno Arkinstall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Irwin Hodson, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 75thth minute of the game Lawrence Deal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Charlton's Bruno Arkinstall was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Winning 11's Craig Mcinnes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Winning 11 from getting a goal against them. 84 minutes into the match, Irwin Hodson notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Charlton's Bruno Arkinstall. Bruno Arkinstall was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 90th minute, Charlton's Ren Atterton ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Craig Mcinnes. Craig Mcinnes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-4. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Charlton eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
