In the 46th minute Neil Leach shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Craig Mcinnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Neale Howie to make the kick off. When Irwin Hodson came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Winning 11 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Irwin Hodson couldn't finish the play. Payne Jackson was shown his second yellow card after 57 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Winning 11 had won after a very even match.
