The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 9 minutes into the match, Humphrey Rafferty had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Darin Veitch. Palana's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Humphrey Rafferty was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Bleyd Lambourne took the ball and in the 12 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Darin Veitch. Darin Veitch dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Meyer Murphy got free with Marcus Duggan in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Meyer Murphy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Marcus Duggan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bleyd Lambourne in the 26th minute of play forced Palana's goalkeeper Darin Veitch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fleming Shipp fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palana's protests and gave Fleming Shipp a yellow card for diving instead. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bleyd Lambourne couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Humphrey Rafferty made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Quakers Hill's Larkin Freeman got a free kick in the 51st minute. After 55 minutes of play, Palana's Meyer Murphy made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marcus Duggan was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 59th minute, Quakers Hill's Humphrey Rafferty dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. Humphrey Rafferty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Darin Veitch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 played minutes Palana got a freekick which was hit by Dallas Kayrooz. Marcus Duggan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Meyer Murphy's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Meyer Murphy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76th minute, Max Worsley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palana fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-3. After a rather tough play, Palana's Fleming Shipp got a free kick in the 78th minute. Palana's Meyer Murphy got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Meyer Murphy received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Marcus Duggan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fleming Shipp fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Duggan having to interfere.
