The audience was convinced that Pearce Legg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bruce Chapman was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Bill Cusbert was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. After 32 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for PEI United! Berkeley Copelin charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Berkeley Copelin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of PEI United booed when Nile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Berkeley Copelin didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to PEI United getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Carsyn Ashwin hit a great ball. PEI United's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Arthur Heberle 46 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 2-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carsyn Ashwin to strike the kick off in the second half. Neale Peach dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. In the 73rd minute, Arthur Heberle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Neale Peach was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind PEI United's goalkeeper Neale Peach, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 77th match minute, Nile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jeffray Beer to maneuver through the defense. Pearce Legg struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Bruce Chapman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PEI United.
