Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Edwards Franklin started the match with the kick off. When Aden Fortington came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Gunyah fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aden Fortington couldn't finish the play. Duffield's Tommy Virgin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aden Fortington in the 4th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edwards Franklin in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dave Hislop saved Gunyah from getting behind. After 6 minutes, Bartholemew Unicomb mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gunyah and the Duffield players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 6 played minutes Gunyah got a freekick which was hit by Bartholemew Unicomb. Thanks to some nice moves Jarvis Inwood could shoot a difficult shot in the 9th minute, which Tommy Virgin however easily saved by the left post. Gunyah's Dave Hislop played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edwards Franklin in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gunyah's goalkeeper Dave Hislop, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Gunyah's Bartholemew Unicomb got a free kick in the 26th minute. 35 minutes into the game, Amos Kinsey cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Dave Hislop was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Amos Kinsey struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Dave Hislop didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Duffield. Edwards Franklin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aden Fortington stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dave Hislop made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Amos Kinsey sent off a good shot on target. Edwards Franklin struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Dave Hislop didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Duffield. Dave Hislop was a little too slow when Samuel Mills got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 54th minute. The score was now 0-3. After a rather tough play, Duffield's Berke Carlisle got a free kick in the 57th minute. When Jarvis Inwood came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Gunyah fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarvis Inwood couldn't finish the play. If Amos Kinsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Bartholemew Unicomb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 80 played minutes Gunyah got a freekick which was hit by Drew Bowen. Tommy Virgin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aden Fortington, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. 86 minutes had been played when some careless play by Duffield's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Drew Bowen was slow to take the kick. During this time Gunyah's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Drew Bowen almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Duffield's Tommy Virgin did a great save. Tommy Virgin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aden Fortington, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Boyce Ambrose had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Angelo Bielski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Duffield could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gunyah throughout the match.
