Alford Yard recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elliott Turnbull in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Filomeno Jerico saved PEPE United from getting behind. In the 36th minute, Phillip Dorrell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brand Schoenke hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. 43 minutes into the match, PEPE United's goal looked a bit too open when Jess Kinnaird came free, but Filomeno Jerico reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 47 played minutes PEPE United got a freekick which was hit by Quincy Dobson. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Elliott Turnbull to make the kick off. Alford Yard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. The Latrobe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jason Moon should have stopped the shot. Latrobe's Jason Moon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alford Yard in the 68th minute of play. In the 75thth minute of the game Alford Yard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Latrobe's Jason Moon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Alford Yard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jason Moon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alford Yard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
