After some careless play in the Byaduk defense, Damon Peplow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Browne Muncaster. The Byaduk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Browne Muncaster should have stopped the shot. Damon Peplow received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Browne Muncaster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Browne Muncaster showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmund Hodson in the 25th minute of the match. Nero Dollymore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Murphey Mcroberts having to interfere. A hard shot by Eddy Willis from long distance, 31 minutes into the match, got Murphey Mcroberts's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Browne Muncaster showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damon Peplow in the 32nd minute of the match. With a little luck, Gold Coast FC's Murphey Mcroberts got control of the ball when Nero Dollymore tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Damon Peplow managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gold Coast FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Damon Peplow was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Browne Muncaster breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 38 minutes into the match, Byaduk's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Hodson came free, but Browne Muncaster reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 46 minutes into the game, Byaduk's Nero Dollymore nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Murphey Mcroberts made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Damon Peplow to strike the kick off in the second half. If Damon Peplow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute, Jerrard Aistrope hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Damian Couzens charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Damian Couzens the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 72 played minutes Byaduk got a freekick which was hit by Damian Couzens. The supporters of Byaduk booed when Gold Coast FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Dowsing didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Gold Coast FC's Damian Dowsing got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 77th minute, Edmund Hodson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 78 played minutes, Byaduk's Eddy Willis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Murphey Mcroberts came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Byaduk reached it. Gold Coast FC's Murphey Mcroberts played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kris Reiter in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute Damon Peplow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Browne Muncaster saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Damon Peplow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Damon Peplow charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Damon Peplow the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When the final whistle sounded Gold Coast FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Byaduk.
