When Doyle Thomas came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the The comeback kids fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doyle Thomas couldn't finish the play. In the 9th minute, Anthony Scalzo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 13 minutes, Damon Laughton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The comeback kids's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damon Laughton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Doyle Thomas managed to get in a good position for a shot. The comeback kids's supporters rose to their feet, but Doyle Thomas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Casper Dalglish breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Loyd Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Jesse Glover tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Bernard Magrath had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berny Tinsley in the 30th minute of play forced Sturt's goalkeeper Casper Dalglish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sturt's Casper Dalglish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doyle Thomas in the 34th minute of play. Doyle Thomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Sturt defense, Damon Laughton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Casper Dalglish. The Sturt fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Casper Dalglish should have stopped the shot. Doyle Thomas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Loyd Bailey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Loyd Bailey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Damon Laughton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cornelius Kuskoff hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. The supporters of The comeback kids booed when Sturt was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Scalzo didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Roger Connell in the 56th minute really tested Casper Dalglish's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. If Loyd Bailey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Casper Dalglish made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doyle Thomas in the 69th minute. After 69 played minutes Sturt got a freekick which was hit by Baxter Gaffigan. In the 72nd minute, Ollie Bohn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jesse Glover showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loyd Bailey in the 74th minute of the match. After 76 minutes, Bernard Magrath made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. The comeback kids's Jesse Glover tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Damon Laughton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 82nd minute. The comeback kids's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damon Laughton in the 85th minute of play forced Sturt's goalkeeper Casper Dalglish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to The comeback kids getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Berny Tinsley hit a great ball. Damon Laughton hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The comeback kids were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Sturt to leave the ground with a draw.
