Guará FC's Emílio Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 42nd minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Guará FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Gabriel Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gustave Martinot charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gustave Martinot the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 79th minute, which Emílio Motta however easily saved by the left post. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Emílio Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
