Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After a rather tough play, Engenheiros da Vila's Sture Vik got a free kick in the 15th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 18 minutes, Jonathan Ferrant successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geraldo Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Engenheiros da Vila the free kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Tomas Illescas hit a great ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sérgio Jacinto, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Christiano Ronaldo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Christiano Ronaldo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Sérgio Jacinto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. Adriano Panella recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 55th minute, Adriano Panella left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Engenheiros da Vila fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 58 played minutes Engenheiros da Vila got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Panella. Eriberto Queirós acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 59th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Tomas Illescas. Tomas Illescas might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eriberto Queirós. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Illescas ran back to his position shaking his head. Sérgio Jacinto's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Eriberto Queirós in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
