Leon Norino hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nilson Brasil in the 22nd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romulo Frederik narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 26th minute after Sporting Clube d Portugal's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Tomas Illescas sped through Sporting Clube d Portugal's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Romulo Frederik. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Nilson Brasil tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 48th minute Artur Alves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romulo Frederik having to interfere. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Romulo Frederik made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 60th minute. After 61 minutes Sporting Clube d Portugal's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artur Alves in the 64th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 74th minute of play forced Sporting Clube d Portugal's goalkeeper Romulo Frederik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sporting Clube d Portugal's Romulo Frederik proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube d Portugal from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco van Basten in the 80th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 85 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Ronaldo Furtado took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Sporting Clube d Portugal's Romulo Frederik got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Venezuela players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Sporting Clube d Portugal from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
