Alican Kutlar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Marcos Cotilla made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Ferdi Kargin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Ferdi Kargin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 86th minute. After having played for 88 minutes, Isidoro Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isidoro Sarmiento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Reis Ünsal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. After 94 played minutes Çanakkale got a freekick which was hit by Sedat Özender. Despite being the better team, Panama failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
