When Tiger King fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SantaAna's protests and gave Tiger King a yellow card for diving instead. In the 2nd match minute, SantaAna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiger King to maneuver through the defense. 6 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar. Salvador Menjivar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Salvador Menjivar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play forced SantaAna's goalkeeper Salvador Menjivar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Oswaldo Reyes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 16 minute of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. Salvador Menjivar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 31 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Edgardo Carrillo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgardo Carrillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 37th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salvador Menjivar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Salvador Menjivar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Carmelo Benavides's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carmelo Benavides helped the player get up and apologised. After 45 played minutes SantaAna got a freekick which was hit by Oswaldo Reyes. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 47th minute of play forced SantaAna's goalkeeper Salvador Menjivar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
The wind increased when Oswaldo Reyes made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Salvador Menjivar. SantaAna's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. 55 minutes into the game, SantaAna's Félix Suarez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. The corner ended in Luis Andino almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar did a great save. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Salvador Menjivar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 64th minute of play. 67 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Salvador Menjivar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. SantaAna's defense didn't have a chance, in the 67th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Salvador Menjivar, making the score, 2-4. SantaAna's Salvador Menjivar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 73rd minute of play. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the SantaAna defense, Luis Andino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Salvador Menjivar. The SantaAna fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Salvador Menjivar should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita in the 82ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Salvador Menjivar, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 87 minutes in the game, Luis Andino fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Salvador Menjivar having to interfere. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
