Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Iker Madrid made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Santiago Abreu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Santiago Abreu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 68th minute, Emmanuel Reyes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 72 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Jiang Sha came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Celestiales's Iker Madrid played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 78th minute of play. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Mateo Gabino, made in the 83rd minute of the game. 94 minutes into the match, Jiang Sha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jiang Sha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Celestiales throughout the match.
