After having played for 22 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marek Patráš in the 24th minute of play. In the 25th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 27th minute of play forced Bodovce FK's goalkeeper Ivan Fogaš to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's Luca Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ivan Fogaš in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ladislav Rottmaier in the 36th minute of the match. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 38th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ivan Fogaš could save by the left post. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ivan Fogaš tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduard Majer hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The supporters of Bodovce FK booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Leoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 63rd minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Bodovce FK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag.
