Venezuela were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after RED-STAR's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tomas Illescas took the corner. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Cacá Braga managed to get in a good position for a shot. RED-STAR's supporters rose to their feet, but Cacá Braga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Cipriano do Vale sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the RED-STAR defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Iwan Wojtyna. The RED-STAR fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Iwan Wojtyna should have stopped the shot. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cacá Braga was the one to do the kick off. After 52 minutes, Cipriano do Vale made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Iwan Wojtyna was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tomas Illescas showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 59 minute of play.
