In the 17th minute, Afonso Amado made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Miguel Miralles hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. The supporters of Panama booed when Desert Fury was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélio Malheiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 24 played minutes, Desert Fury's Nuno Ramos shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Desert Fury reached it. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Amado in the 32nd minute of play. The supporters of Panama booed when Desert Fury was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélio Manarte didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tomas Berganza scored 3-1 in the 37th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hernani Correia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 47 minutes into the match, Desert Fury's goal looked a bit too open when Abraham Alguacil came free, but Hernani Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Marcos Cotilla stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Maurito's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 93rd minute of play forced Desert Fury's goalkeeper Hernani Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Desert Fury booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Ros didn't get a good kick on the ball.
