Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octavian Rutgeerts, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Shota Stopa. That made the score 2-0 after 27 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Octavian Rutgeerts in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. Shota Stopa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 35th minute. In the 41st minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shota Stopa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Octavian Rutgeerts in the 43rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

After a defensive mix-up in Mexico's zone, Henri-Xavier Pauwels stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal and Henri-Xavier Pauwels tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
