Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st match minute, Squadra de Pippe was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valérien Derm to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Squadra de Pippe defense, Lautaro Mancebo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fan Xi Hong. The Squadra de Pippe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fan Xi Hong should have stopped the shot. Filippo Massa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Squadra de Pippe's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filippo Massa in the 90th minute of play. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
