The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Sven-Olof Kielstedt scored 0-2 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. FC Momlinho's Joachim Hellkvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 18th minute of play. After 18 played minutes Eliseo Noboa rounded FC Momlinho's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. 24 minutes into the game, FC Momlinho's Sven-Olof Kielstedt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. In the 29th minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Jan Koller kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Lautaro Puig hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Koller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 41st minute Jan Koller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Abo Bakr recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 46 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan Koller got free with Benito Sanz in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Sven-Olof Kielstedt took a quick shot and it went in 1-6 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. 69 minutes into the game, Axel Tasis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Momlinho the free kick. In the 70th minute, Abo Bakr got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Sven-Olof Kielstedt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sven-Olof Kielstedt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Jan Koller tried to sneak it across the goal line. 78 minutes into the game, Alexander Carballo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Momlinho the free kick. The supporters of FC Momlinho booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexander Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was a penalty for Costa Rica! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sven-Olof Kielstedt in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Thor Törnblom could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. FC Momlinho's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
