In the 12th minute Leandro Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leandro Soares's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leandro Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Damien Bakker hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Fc Benefica's Leandro Soares slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Leandro Soares sent off a good shot on target. Mitchel Dijkstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 30th minute of play. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Mitchel Dijkstra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the game, Leandro Soares recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Leandro Soares showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When Hugo Andriessen fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fc Benefica's protests and gave Hugo Andriessen a yellow card for diving instead. 43 minutes into the game, one of Fc Benefica:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 45 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Mitchel Dijkstra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leandro Soares stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Fc Benefica's Leandro Soares in the 51st minute got a chance for a shot 51st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 61st match minute, Fc Benefica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leandro Soares to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leandro Soares in the 66th minute of play. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Fc Benefica's Leandro Soares. But to his dismay, Leandro Soares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Leandro Soares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Primitivo Andino made in the 71st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Agustín Saelices. 75 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's Leandro Soares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Soares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Leandro Soares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 93 minutes into the match, Fc Benefica's Leandro Soares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Fc Benefica support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
