Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Paulo Vasconcelos in the 22nd minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Dínamo São Paulo's Yan Vieira. But to his dismay, Yan Vieira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 俞威凌 kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Dínamo São Paulo's zone, Roberto Ocampo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diguinho Toledo came out of the goal and Roberto Ocampo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 29 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ronaldinho Gaúcho. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 30th minute, when Yan Vieira scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. Thanks to some nice moves Ronaldinho Gaúcho could shoot a difficult shot in the 35th minute, which Jonathan Ferrant however easily saved by the left post. In the 37th minute Roberto Ocampo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diguinho Toledo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Roberto Ocampo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Dínamo São Paulo getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Zigmas Duseika hit a great ball. Ronaldinho Gaúcho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. With an all-out effort, Dínamo São Paulo's Jonathan Ferrant threw himself towards the right post 48 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luiz Paulo Vasconcelos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Yan Vieira was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Yan Vieira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Diguinho Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roberto Ocampo, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. 61 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dínamo São Paulo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joshua Secada was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Joshua Secada fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Diguinho Toledo quite easily take care of the ball. 63 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Paulo Vasconcelos came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
