Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomasz Huchro in the 24th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Tomasz Huchro came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Joel Gaona kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Amadeo Carrizo. That made the score 2-0 in the 32 minute of play. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by 9 de Diciembre's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anier Eron in the 39th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Tomasz Huchro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The 9 de Diciembre fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Joel Gaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amado Lider might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Amado Lider ran back to his position shaking his head. If Tomasz Huchro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Amadeo Carrizo. 9 de Diciembre's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1.
