Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after A.C.Mandala's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Köksal Üstay hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Su Xiang Chuan came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Agustín Saelices. But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Su Xiang Chuan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 51st minute. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Su Xiang Chuan made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Su Xiang Chuan in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
