Dionisio Ondino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. If Jaime Cazalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pastor Sagrario in the 32nd minute of the match. In the 34th match minute, Elite Azulgrana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romulo Jayvier to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Elite Azulgrana's zone, Alberto Gisbert stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dionisio Ondino came out of the goal and Alberto Gisbert tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Juan Ignacio Mercier hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, Pastor Sagrario reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. The goal made the score 1-0. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Pastor Sagrario tried to sneak it across the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pastor Sagrario stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Elite Azulgrana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinicio Luzaide to maneuver through the defense. Maximiliano Escribano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Dionisio Ondino came out and tried to block the shot, but Maximiliano Escribano slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 53rd minute. A throw-in in the 58th minute of the game was made by Romulo Jayvier with Juan Ignacio Mercier as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Alberto Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Gisbert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Elite Azulgrana booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Pastor Sagrario notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pastor Sagrario in the 85th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Romulo Jayvier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Elite Azulgrana's zone, Jaime Cazalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dionisio Ondino came out of the goal and Jaime Cazalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Elite Azulgrana succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Uruguay had controlled the match.
