Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Celestino Mattin made the kick off and thus started the match. Sebastian Verón's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastian Verón helped the player get up and apologised. Freddy Rey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agustín Saelices in the 5th minute of the match. Universitario Pincharrata's Freddy Rey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 6th minute of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Universitario Pincharrata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Verón didn't get a good kick on the ball. Daniel Zorita blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Freddy Rey having to make a save. Sebastian Verón was shown his second yellow card after 8 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Sebastian Verón hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Luis Andino put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Freddy Rey. In the 14th minute, Luis Andino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 19 minutes into the match, Universitario Pincharrata's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Freddy Rey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Freddy Rey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Freddy Rey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Freddy Rey came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. Freddy Rey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Montenegro went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. In the 32nd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Freddy Rey. Universitario Pincharrata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Freddy Rey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. In the 41st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Freddy Rey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Freddy Rey came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Luis Andino. But to his dismay, Luis Andino quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-7.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Freddy Rey. That made the score 0-8 after 52 minutes of play. Freddy Rey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. 60 minutes in the game Camilo Gisbert did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Felix Montenegro. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Camilo Gisbert got a throw-in 62 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Luis Andino. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Freddy Rey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Freddy Rey managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Ecuador's Agustín Saelices fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Freddy Rey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of Freddy Rey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 73rd match minute, Universitario Pincharrata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alejandro Sabella to maneuver through the defense. After 74 minutes, Nereo Pedroso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Universitario Pincharrata and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. 73 minutes into the game, one of Universitario Pincharrata:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute of play forced Universitario Pincharrata's goalkeeper Freddy Rey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Freddy Rey made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Freddy Rey stood somewhat misplaced when Agustín Saelices came free in front of goal and shot 0-10 to the left of him in the 86 minute. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Freddy Rey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Alejandro Sabella charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alejandro Sabella the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 91 played minutes Universitario Pincharrata got a freekick which was hit by Alejandro Sabella. Universitario Pincharrata's Freddy Rey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Universitario Pincharrata from getting a goal against them.
