In the 9th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 10 played minutes SC Atabueira got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Quintas. In the 12thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Atabueira's Idalécio Carrasqueira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Josué Campelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Atabueira's Josué Campelo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Julio Vera. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Idalécio Carrasqueira quite easily take care of the ball. In the 24thth minute of the game Felix Montes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Atabueira's Idalécio Carrasqueira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 25th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Idalécio Carrasqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 28 minutes into the game, Claudemiro Roriz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Atabueira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luz Palacio in the 30th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Idalécio Carrasqueira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luz Palacio spun around in front of the goal 31 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of SC Atabueira's goal. A collision led to SC Atabueira getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Manuel Quintas hit a great ball. Idalécio Carrasqueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. After 36 played minutes SC Atabueira got a freekick which was hit by Anton Manta. In the 37th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Idalécio Carrasqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Felix Montenegro in the 41st minute. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Josué Campelo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Josué Campelo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Josué Campelo to make the kick off. With a little luck, SC Atabueira's Idalécio Carrasqueira got control of the ball when Luis Andino tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Josué Campelo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. In the 54th minute, Felix Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luz Palacio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute.
