After having played for 3 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 11th minute. Venancio Panpili came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benito Sanz could save by the left post. 16 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Generoso Txema came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Adolfo Txeru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute of the match Villa Maria FC got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Desiderio Ederono ran over to the corner to take the kick. Robustiano Oihenarte kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Eliseo Noboa hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Generoso Txema was extremely unlucky when he, in the 31st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Venancio Panpili's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Venancio Panpili got free with Benito Sanz in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 34 minutes into the game, Abel Carballo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villa Maria FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 34th minute. Villa Maria FC's Venancio Panpili got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Froilan Inguma during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Villa Maria FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Froilan Inguma hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got his second yellow card of the match in the 42nd minute. The referee ordered Abel Carballo off the ground. In the 43rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abel Carballo to maneuver through the defense. When Alexander Carballo fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alexander Carballo a yellow card for diving instead. Alexander Carballo hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. Villa Maria FC's Venancio Panpili got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eliseo Noboa to strike the kick off in the second half. Axel Tasis kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Venancio Panpili in the 53rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Generoso Txema in the 58th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Generoso Txema in the 60th minute of the match. Robustiano Oihenarte recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 65th play minutes Venancio Panpili shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Benito Sanz and just under the crossbar into goal. When the match clock showed 69 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Robustiano Oihenarte sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. 72 minutes into the match, Generoso Txema had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Generoso Txema was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Generoso Txema, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes into the game, Juan Rubio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Villa Maria FC the free kick. Juan Rubio kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Venancio Panpili might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Venancio Panpili ran back to his position shaking his head. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Venancio Panpili in the 85th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Alexander Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robustiano Oihenarte recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Robustiano Oihenarte managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villa Maria FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Robustiano Oihenarte was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lautaro Puig charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lautaro Puig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. Venancio Panpili recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 97 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Robustiano Oihenarte came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Villa Maria FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
