Iraido Bertiz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Felix Luque hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iraido Bertiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Fohat Neyen getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Clemente Tome hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 22nd minute of play forced Fohat Neyen's goalkeeper Iraido Bertiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luca Rouco to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 25th minute of play forced Fohat Neyen's goalkeeper Iraido Bertiz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Denis Schnell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. In the 44th minute, Iruinea Llordes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 46 minutes into the game, Joel Gaona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Iraido Bertiz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Mexico were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Iraido Bertiz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Iruinea Llordes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 63rd minute. In the 66th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt-Rune Widberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Bengt-Rune Widberg in the 79th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 84th minute of the match, Alberto Tafalla got a very nice opportunity to score, but Iraido Bertiz was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Iraido Bertiz in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alberto Tafalla in the 89thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Iraido Bertiz, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 89th minute, Joel Gaona hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute, Iruinea Llordes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fohat Neyen's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
