After a defensive mix-up in Fohat Neyen's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iraido Bertiz came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bengt-Rune Widberg in the 90th minute of the match. In the 94thth minute of the game Bengt-Rune Widberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Fohat Neyen booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 96 minutes, Bengt-Rune Widberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fohat Neyen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bengt-Rune Widberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Fohat Neyen were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
