Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. 1948 MKS's Torrey Molloy managed to work through Ecuador's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Torrey Molloy dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Ter Stegen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Agustín Saelices's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Torrey Molloy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Ter Stegen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torrey Molloy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The supporters of 1948 MKS booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Torrey Molloy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. 1948 MKS's Ter Stegen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 40th minute of play. Ter Stegen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ter Stegen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. In the 50th minute Rigan Frankson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rigan Frankson in the 55th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 57 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Rigan Frankson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Torrey Molloy in the 64th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in 1948 MKS's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ter Stegen came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 1948 MKS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudy Lukas didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, 1948 MKS's Ter Stegen got control of the ball when Luis Andino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arnold McDecland hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedict Zech in the 82nd minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Rigan Frankson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ter Stegen having to make a save. After having played for 94 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than 1948 MKS.
