If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wawrzyniec Kalinowski in the 54th minute. 杜义勇 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 55th minute of play. In the 62nd minute, Lautaro Mancebo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mexico fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 65th minute, Joel Gaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bryan Laudrup fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. Lautaro Mancebo's late challenge caught a 康富来's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lautaro Mancebo helped the player get up and apologised. After 87 minutes, Bernardo Honesto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 康富来 and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in 康富来 fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 87th minute. Penalty! Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. 杜义勇 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Mexico fully deserved thier win.
