Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brujas KV's Inge Marin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. Thorvald Egfjords short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Brujas KV's Óli Manfredi was substituted for Zachary Pliszka. After a rather tough play, Brujas KV's Marco Chuse got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zygmunt Wielkopolski in the 55th minute of play. 58 minutes into the game, Brujas KV's Óli Manfredi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thorvald Egfjord in the 61st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. Felix Montenegro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Inge Marin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Felix Montenegro might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Inge Marin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Felix Montenegro ran back to his position shaking his head. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Óli Manfredi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Inge Marin was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 76 minute of play. Brujas KV's Octavio Rosio was substituted for David Rios. 84 minutes into the match, Brujas KV's goalkeeper Inge Marin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Octavio Rosio succeeded in the game's 92nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Brujas KV were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
