Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Svante Forssberg having to interfere. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Wästerberg came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Karl-Åke Biörk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Karl-Åke Biörk, made in the 26th minute of the game. After having played for 27 minutes, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Covarrubias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 30 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Raul Venegas. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jaime Pardo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Xavier Zoido's late challenge caught a Snett★inåt★bakåt's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Xavier Zoido helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Snett★inåt★bakåt booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Zoido didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 minutes of play Paraguay's Xavier Zoido was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 59 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Xavier Zoido.
