Marcellus Walpert charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marcellus Walpert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 16 played minutes Olympique Fribourg got a freekick which was hit by Marcellus Walpert. In the 16th minute of the match Daniel Zorita shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Patrick Knechtli showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Patrick Knechtli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 23 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Olympique Fribourg's Patrick Knechtli. Patrick Knechtli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fred Stutz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Patrick Knechtli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 32nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Téo Savion fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Raik Topuz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Patrick Knechtli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Knechtli having to interfere. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Olympique Fribourg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcellus Walpert didn't get a good kick on the ball.

Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Téo Savion, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. When Raik Topuz came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Olympique Fribourg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raik Topuz couldn't finish the play. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 79th minute Téo Savion shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Olympique Fribourg's Medero Gadea got a free kick in the 79th minute. Téo Savion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Téo Savion, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Olympique Fribourg throughout the match.
