Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Valdieri the free kick. 43 minutes into the match, Alfonso Aloisi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso Aloisi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

52 minutes into the match, Dennis Berardo notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. The Valdieri fans' excitement grew in the 56th match minute when Valdieri's Edoardo Rinaldi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The tension between the Valdieri and the Costa Rica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Valdieri were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Costa Rica for a fine match.
